just long enough for it to download the program. They don't know your actual ip address until you do click on it however. It's not just out there in the open ready to be accessed by some tool.

umm fella do you realize that websites don't give the ip adress to third parties? Not legally at least. The third party has to trick someone to click on a link in order to have acess to your ip adress. Once they know your ip address they can acess...
